1-A Collection of Quicksteps, Strathspeys, Reels, and Jigs arranged for the Highland Bagpipe by Donald MacDonald and Son, Pipe Makers, Edinburgh (Sixth edition).  This collection contains a total of 119 tunes, (19 marches, 12 strathspeys, 56 reels, and 32 jigs).  Although the sixth edition dates from around 1888, the first edition dates back to 1828 and was one of the first published collections of light music.  The book includes several classic tunes (Sleepy Maggie, Kate Dalrymple, The Sheep Wife) along with others that are less well known.  A nice collection of enjoyable light music that dates back nearly 175 years.  - $12.95

2 - Ross’ Collection of Pipe Music by William Ross.   William Ross served as the piper to Queen Victoria, and his collection of pipe music was one of the most important piping sources of the late 19th century. The collection contains over 440 light music tunes and 41 piobaireachds. There is a wealth of good light music in this collection, with tunes suited to all ability levels. In addition, 16 of the piobaireachds in this collection are not found in either the Piobaireachd Society books or the Kilberry Book. The second and third editions of Ross' collection were the largest of the six editions that were published, and this CD presents all tunes from both of these editions -  $16.95

3 - A New Zealand Collection of Bagpipe Music & The Second New Zealand Collection of Bagpipe Music by Alexander Taylor Cameron.   A delightful collection of pipe music that is totally unique!  Alexander Taylor Cameron composed almost all the nearly 200 tunes in this collection, most of which do not appear in any other pipe music books.  A full range of light music tunes are presented, along with a few original piobaireachds.  A great source of interesting pipe music - $13.95

4 - The Brigade Book of Irish Pipe Music. This book was a precursor to the Royal Irish Rangers and was first published around 1949 as a source of pipe music for the Irish regiments of the British.  There’s a great variety of marches, retreats, quicksteps, reels, jigs, Irish clan marches, and laments.  In addition, the collection contains suggested "sets" of tunes for marching and other performing formats.  The music settings are truly "band ready" and are not overly complicated.  If you’re looking for a "St. Patrick’s Day Irish music survival kit", this CD is what you need. - $15.95

5 - Henderson’s Tutor for the Bagpipe and Collection of Pipe Music by Peter Henderson. A very nice collection that includes some exercises and over 200 marches, reels, jigs, strathspeys, and country dance tunes.  The quality of the settings is excellent, and rivals those of modern day music books.  This CD is truly a "march lover’s dream", with 80 2/4 marches and 34 6/8 marches. - $13.95

6 – Master Method for the Highland Bagpipe, With a Selection of Modern & Traditional Marches, Strathspeys, Reels, & Jigs by Pipe Majors James Robertson and Donald Shaw Ramsay – Over 90 marches, strathspeys, reels, and jigs are included in this collection, which also features a tutor.  A section containing an introduction to piobaireachd is included as well.     $13.95

7 – Irish Tunes for the Scottish and Irish War-Pipes by David Glen.   David Glen prepared this collection of tunes for William Walsh, a piper from Chicago, IL.  The settings are very nicely presented, and collection includes over 140 tunes. - $12.95

8 – J & R Glen’s Collection for the Great Highland Bagpipe by John and Robert Glen.   John and Robert Glen, who were cousins to David Glen, prepared this collection of over 200 marches, strathspeys, reels, and jigs.  The collection was originally a three-volume set and has dozens of tunes not included David Glen’s collection.  The collection also includeds a historical sketch and some interesting drawings that are also included on this CD  - $13.95

9 – G.F. Ross Collection - This collection presents two books by G.F. Ross. The first, "MaCrimmon and Other Piobaireachd" presents 26 classic piobaireachds, including the "Cave of Gold". The second book, "Some Piobaireachd Studies" presents a discussion of MacCrimmon canntaireachd, notes on playing advanced embellishments, and analyses of 19 piobaireachds. This CD also features a piobaireachd index that lists over 1500 piobaireachd settings. (This replaces our former "G.F. Ross MacCrimmon and Other Piobaireachd"). - $12.95

10 – David Glen’s Collection of Highland Bagpipe Music by David Glen. This CD contains all seventeen volumes of Glen’s collection along with the tutor.  Over 1100 marches, strathspeys, reels, quicksteps, and jigs are included.  Glen was one of the most influential pipers of his day, and his collection is one of the largest ever assembled.  - $19.95

11 – Logan's Collection of Highland Bagpipe Music - The Logan Collection is a classic collection of over 500 tunes that were originally presented in eight separate books. The quality of the settings is excellent. The first volume of this collection appeared in 1899 and the last volume was added shortly after World War I. Truly a classic collection of tunes!!  - $16.95.

12 – David Glen's Ancient Piobaireachd - This is the complete seven-volume set, and includes an enhanced easy-to-read version of Fionn's notes. We were able to work with an exceptionally good version of this classic work, and the quality of the images is excellent! In addition to our standard autostart and links, the CD also includes links between the settings and Fionn's notes. In all, over 100 piobaireachd settings are presented. - $17.95.

13 – The Cowal Collection This is the a set of four books commonly known as the Cowal Collection. The first was published around 1905 and the remaining three books appeared over the course of the next 27 years. There are 234 tunes in all, including 124 marches. The collection features some fine compositions by Peter MacLeod and John McLellan. $16.95

14 – MacKay's Ancient Piobaireachd - This is Angus MacKay's classic collection that was first published in 1838. It includes 61 piobaireachds, and the settings have all embellishments written out rather than using abbreviations. The collection also includes sections on: a) the history and legends and behind the piobaireachds, b) a history of the competitions of the Highland Society of London, and c) a history of the hereditary pipers, all of which were presented in a very small hard-to-read type in the original copy. We have complete reset these sections in a larger font to make the more readable, and have included links among the index listings, the settings, and the historical notes. A must for all serious piobaireachd players. $13.95.

15 – Gunn's Collection - Dating back to 1848, this collection of over 220 tunes includes several commonly played selections, along with a good number of settings for less known tunes. The collection is comprised primarily of reels, strathspeys, and jigs. $14.95

16 – Royal Scottish Pipers' Society Collection - The collection was developed with consent and cooperation of the Royal Scottish Pipers' Society and presents over 100 tunes taken from two books they published. The first book appeared in 1912, and the second was printed sometime later. The collection includes several popular settings, along with a nice 6/8 march written by the Duke of Windsor. A descriptive essay on the Royal Scottish Pipers' Society is also included. $12.95.

17 – Bett's Collection - A fine collection of pipe music prepared by James Bett around 1899. It has over 190 tunes, including 20 piobaireachds. The settings are beautifully printed, and have been presented using a "user-friendly" page layout. - $16.95

18 – David Glen's Edinburgh Collection - This is the last of David Glen's four collection of pipe music. It was developed between 1903 and 1908, and was originally presented in a series of 11 books. It contains over 500 tunes in all. - $17.95

19 – The Pipes of War - This is a fascinating collection of tunes assembled by Bruce Seton and John Grant. There are 50 composed during World War I, and most of these tunes appear only in this collection. According to the preface, the original collection was limited to 200 copies for sale. The collection also includes two piobaireachds composed by John Grant- $12.95

20 – Donald MacPhee Collection - This CD is a compilation of Donald MacPhee's four bagpipe music books; his tutor, light music book, and two piobaireachd books. In all the collection includes over 175 tunes, which includes 37 piobaireachds. - $16.95

21 – The Caledonian Repository of Music for the Great Highland Bag-Pipes by Alexander Glen - This is a very rare copy of the first of edition of this work published in 1860 by Alexander Glen (father of David Glen). The collection contains 100 light music tunes, and also includes practice exercises and a historical preface. - $13.95

22 – The Empire Collection of Pipe Tunes - The Empire Collection consists of two books by J.D. Ross Watt, a native Scot who later moved to South Africa. The first book was published in 1934, and the other appeared in 1936. In all, there are about 225 tunes in these two books. Many of the settings were written by J.D. Ross Watt, and many others are his arrangements. The collection also includes tunes from Asian and African cultures, and well as his own piobaireachd compositions. - $14.95

23 – The Edcath Collection of Highland Bagpipe Music and Drum Settings by Donald Shaw Ramsay - A great collection of marches, strathspeys, reels, and jigs. This collection is unique in that it also presents drum scores for several tunes - 13.95

24 – Ceol Mor by General C.S. Thomason. - This is a truly historic collection of piobaireachd that served to influence the Piobaireachd Society books. Ceol Mor represents Thomason's effort to preserve piobaireachd by preparing a comprehensive collection of piobaireachd settings. As part of his effort, Thomason develop a unqiue "shorthand" system of notation that allows an entire piobaireachd setting to be presented on a single page. Our collection includes over 300 settings from both the 1900 and 1905 editions, and includes background material on Thomason's notation system and notes on piobaireachd expression. - $17.95

25 – Donald MacDonald's Ancient Martial Music of Caledonia Called Piobaireachd This is Donald MacDonald's classic collection of 23 piobaireachds, which dates from around 1822. It also includes a small collection of 13 light music tunes. We were able to work with a pristine copy of this work, and the quality of the images is excellent. $12.95

26 – Angus MacKay's Piper's Assistant - This collection, which dates from the late 1840's, consists of 155 light music tunes. It includes a preface with historical information and exercises. Tune titles are given in both English and Gaelic. $12.95

27 – MacLeod's Tutor and Collection for the Highland Bagpipe by Pipe Major A.R. MacLeod. This collection of light music dates from around 1915, and includes 142 marches, strathspeys, reels, jigs, and hornpipes. About 40 of the tunes were composed by the author. Includes tutorial section with exercises. $13.95

28 – A New and Complete Tutor for the Great Highland Bagpipe, by Thomas Glen. - Published sometime between 1840 and 1843, this two-volume collection contains 112 reels, jigs, airs, and marches. Thomas Glen founded the firm which was later known as J & R Glen, and was an uncle to David Glen. $12.95

29 – Highland Bagpipe Music by G. S. MacLennan. Published in 1929, this collection includes some well-known tunes written by G. S. MacLennan, along with a piobaireachd entitled "The Lament for Lt. John MacLennan". The collection includes 56 marches, jigs, strathspeys, and reels, and also includes tunes written by other composers. $13.95

30 – The Music of Clan MacLean by David Glen. Published in 1900, this collection is unique in that its music is specific to one clan. It includes 13 piobaireachds, as well as other light music. $12.95

31– Fergusson's Bagpipe Melodies. Dating to around 1939, this collection presents settings for 56 light music tunes. The settings are presented in a fairly modern style of notation. $13.95

32– Glenallan Collection of Bagpipe Music. This collection presents 72 settings for a wide variety of well-known marches, strathspeys, reels, jigs, and hornpipes. It dates to the early 1950's and the settings are present in a modern style. $13.95

33– Glendaruel Collection by William Norris. This collection could easily be called the "MSR handbook," as it presents 21 2/4 marches, 12 strathspeys, and 12 reels. It also includes 3 6/8 marches. All settings are fairly modern. Included are settings for Australian Ladies, Balmoral Highlanders, McAllister's Dirk, The Piper's Bonnet, and other tunes. $13.95

34– Kilberry Book of Ceol Meadhonach by Captain John Campbell and Archibald Campbell. This collection was published in 1908 and focused on "tunes as are neither constructed to the measure of Piobaireachd, nor adapted to the quick march or dance." They labeled these tunes as "middle music" or ceol meadhonach. This collection known for is excellent histories on the origins of many of the tunes. It presents settings for 43 tunes $13.95

35– From Broadside to Broadband by Dr. William Donaldson. This collection is the world’s first collection of pipe music initially published on CD-ROM!! It includes several dozen original compositions by Dr. Donaldson, along with his arrangements of several classic pipe tunes. In all, the CD presents about 200 light music settings. In addition, the CD contains several audio tracks that include records of Bob Nicol and J. Scott Skinner. It also includes photos, drawings, and a wealth of historical notes and information. (PLEASE NOTE – This CD is formatted for use only in PC-compatible (IBM-compatible) computers and has a copy-protection feature.) $17.95

36– M’Kinnon’s Collection. From 1884, a very nice collection consisting of over 140 settings. The collection is comprised primarily of marches, strathspeys, and reels. The settings are very clear, and easy to read. $13.95

37– The Piobaireachd by John MacLennan. This small, but interesting, collection presents eight piobaireachd and ten light music tunes composed by G.S. MacLennan. The collection also includes a few pages of instructional material. $9.95
